And another, a complete set

tell me when to stop!
Hello, there are quite a few on Leboncoin, search under Citroen DS cric or Clé manivelle rallonge. Sylvain has one for sale, but he knows how to charge.
Have you the usual suspects? Darrin, Jamie and Adie? Here you are, all three pieces. I use google translate and offer to pay by bank transfer (free on Barclays Bank app)
All that rubbish in the box section is just rust particles and grinding mess, I just need to vacuum it out.
Just for a change I’ve been scraping off paint, bitumen sound proofing and seam sealer. At the front of the chassis, the seams are hardly sealed at all. The right hand front side rail section is fine, the left hand side had a bulge in the flat section next to where the bumpers and rubber over-riders bolt on. At that point it is treble skinned. The top small section was still ok, a bit of rust. The next two layers were solid rust. I’ve cut these out and will make new panels tomorrow.
On this picture, it is area to the left where a tab sticks up with a hole in it. Everything else is fine, so I’m not chopping the whole lot out. And I’m a cheapskate with a welder.
If anyone is rustproofing, give the front cross member a lot of attention, also the very front of the side railshttps://shop.citroenclassics.co.uk/chassis-cross-member-771-2657-p.asp
Hello, glad you have got a tame welder sorted out. If you want to see what is possible, have a read through this

I’m biased, I think the DSuper5 is the best iteration. 5 speed box, carburettor, pendant brake pedal. Too many people may have faffed about with the injection in the last 50 years. Easier access to engine. Simple fuel pump.
Similarly manual 5 speed box. Push down the clutch, put in in gear, off you go. Sacrilegious maybe, the semi auto was a solution to a problem that didn’t exist.
If you just want to get in and drive, a DSuper5 is the best bet.
Get the spheres tested (only 5 on a DSuper5). Every single car will have a bit of rust, don’t penalise a car with a tiny bit of rot in say the boot. Negotiate the price down then get it fixed.Regarding mechanical knowledge, the hydraulics are almost bullet proof. The engine is an ancient design that will run flat out for hours. Everything is over engineered.
A 1/4″ drive socket set with spare 8mm and 11mm sockets is a must, as is a magnet on a flexible stick (Stahlwile make a good one) and a tool to open the bonnet if the cable fails (dimensions in manual), use a ‘behind the radiator roller’ from B&Q.
Plenty of help is available on here. Get any possible purchase vetted by Darrin, Jamie, Adie or similar before parting with the cash.
There are always plenty for sale on Leboncoin

The problem is getting the French to 1) answer and 2) accept a bank transfer and 3)send to the UK

Don’t forget to change the oil! Must be GL4. My gearbox oil was like oxtail soup.
Have you considered doing it yourself?
Apart from usual tools, you’ll need one of these
Or similar
If you want to keep the original foam (more comfy than the new stuff) you can pack it out with synthetic horse hair from Woolies, placed behind the foam.
Could you TIG it? Or will 50 years of oil seep out of the pores?
The bellhousing isn’t like a Ford for example. The bellhousing and gearbox casing are line bored for the diff, so really are a matched pair.
Has the dealer got a facebook page? A bit of leverage there if they don’t play ball. But would you trust them to fix it?
If you do find one, pay Darrin or Jamie to look at it before parting with cash. Getting it MOT’ed with you present would be useful.
The Time-Sert kit from Amazon is £150 (that is the picture from Amazon, thought I was loading the web page)
Hello, get it helicoiled or better a Time-Sert. Time-Serts are available in M7. If the hole is too large, go to M8 and drill the top hat.
Times-Serts are expensive
Helicoil a lot cheaper
Peter
Simple again. Have you changed the gearbox oil? I use EP90 but it must be GL4, do not use GL5.
And while you are down there getting covered in oil, change the engine oil and filter. Don’t forget to align the triangles.
