I have a follow up question about the blown head gasket and head skimming. I’ve recently acquired a refurbished head, as a spare (a bird in the hand etc.). I’ve measured the remaining head height and it’s marginally below 90mm (which I believe is spec). Will tappet adjustment and camchain tensioner cope with the difference ? Can I, or should I, compensate with a thicker head gasket, or am I embarking on a whole chapter of hurt by using the under-spec head height ? Thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.
BTW – Simon did we meet recently in Sainsbury’s Oswestry – Grey DS20 with black roof ?
