Thanks for all the ideas, in the end I took the circuit for the screen heater and wired in a cigarette lighter socket. I have a small electric fan heater that just plugs in sat on the parcel shelf. Don’t even need to switch it on and off because I can just use the switch on the dashboard.

Boot light has gone off again! I’ve got 12v across the bulb holder terminals but the bulb just won’t light. I’ve tested the bulb and it’s a good one.

Amazing, so there is! I’ll have a go at that letter when it’s dark. Thank you so much, sorry for so many simple questions. Loving during my D, learning so much all the time. Dave

I did yes, bit embarrassed I didn’t realise in the first place, it’s obvious when you know. But also the bullet connector to the rheostat had come off! So thanks for prompting me to look there too. Lovely and bright now.

Thanks Peter and Paul, I’ve been on a little road trip to London, 300 miles and it didn’t miss a beat. So only just had time to get the facia off for a proper look. Blown bulb! Dave

Thanks everyone as always very helpful. For whatever reason my D has been fitted with a modern electric fuel pump so ought to be OK. I’ll check that rubber connector Paul mentioned and try replacing it with modern fuel pipe. I’d forgotten that not all E10 contains 10% ethanol. I’ll bear in mind and keep an eye on the fuel inlet connector that John mentioned. Thanks again. Dave

Thanks Peter, I’ll have another look. Was tying to compare both sides but couldn’t see any difference, I know where to look now. I wasn’t doing anything drastic, just adjusting the lights and replacing a faulty bulb.

Sorry everyone, struggling to attach the photo.

Ahh that makes sense, they are missing!

in reply to: Floppy front headlight #9733

Thanks to all for your help so far but it’s not that adjuster block that’s missing, they are both there and in good condition. It’s the very end where it attaches to the headlight reflector that seems to be the problem. There’s a “bracket” on the back of the reflector but it’s like there’s something missing that the end of the rod should clip into? I can’t see far enough into the near side to compare.

Great, thank you, I’ll get a couple ordered in case the other side breaks too.

Thanks for that – fibre optic eh! how very modern. Looks like a previous owner didn’t heed your warning as one of the corners has already cracked, I will be gentle.
