🥴 what a pain
Justin I’m sure you will enjoy your purchase in the long run and like you I too have found things that have cost me money that shows no improvement when looking at the car! I was fortunate that I had it checked by someone who did know there stuff and although I’m keen to have a go I opted to let Jamie at DS workshop do his magic. I worked more days to balance off this cost but am now really enjoying driving my Ds, I think you have been mighty brave having a go yourself and I take my hat off to you. Hoping you get a chance to enjoy your cruiser again and enjoy the good bits when you can.
You tube shows one being replaced which as you say with helping hands looks reasonably DIY able.
Be quick Justin as I believe they will be closing for a little while in August.
That’s them! I shall keep my ears open for any that appear thanks all for the verification.
I think you may be right Paul, I also believe there is a French sounding named product Marcel or something similar.
Thanks Peter,
I have the yellow covers over the bulbs at present which I get by on at night but as you say you need high beam as soon as the street lights are behind you 😂 I just like the look of those headlights with the inner dish, not seen them for sale anywhere! Thanks John & Peter, that’s great news about replacement clips and I’ll tell no one about my wheel colour issues 😉.
Good to hear your different ideas it makes a great start but mine had dents on the corners which I couldn’t get out. I have it to a company in Sandwich Kent who took out all the dents and polished it up to chrome plating depth shine for a reasonable amount of money, they were

I’ll put a picture up when I get it back from Jamie who’s doing a great job on the mechanics he’s got the car running like a dream where it was a nightmare before he had it 🥴Looking good Justin 👍
Thanks as always for your reply Paul, Jamie is trying his best to sort out some of the most important issues for me which is mainly the car is not reliable due to cutting out under heavy breaking or turning at slow revs, being semi auto makes it harder to work around!! he has his suspicions I.e fuel injection but he is very busy with a que of cars in front of mine so I’m trying to relieve him of some Of the less important tasks that being the removal of what I believe is a bonded roof in order to take it to a workshop, use to fibre glass porous issues. I’m happy to remove but replacing I may need help with although there are some excellent right ups on line.
Cheers Paul. Thanks Paul, I’m fettling with the idea of cutting the rubbers out with a saw blade so as to remove a slot then hopefully pry them out of their long term position. If you remember how you inserted the new ones please come back to me. Thanks Sean
Happy New Year folks here’s to a great 2021!
Mine has started with the renewing of rear bumper bracket replacements as after removing my bumper the rubber inserts and fixing tubes are beyond repair, totally corroded within the rubber mounts 🥴.
Is there any tips for removing old rubber inserts and re-fitting new ones as it looks a little tight to me. Perhaps a drop of soapy water maybe!! Any advice as always much appreciated. Sean.Cheers Paul I know what you mean although the near side tube and nut have rotted away and fallen off in the past but the metal is good that holds onto the bracket! I’ve sprayed the offside one with WD 40 as per Colins post and will patiently persuade it off.
All the best for The New Year to you all. SeanThanks Colin, that’s nice to know it’s just a matter of being a little more heavy handed!
I read your woes about leaning on your bumper a few weeks back, the whole topic is a good read with some good information, all the best Sean. -
