I shall buy some relays in readiness 🤓
Thanks Paul I hoped you would come back with a explanation and yes the Earth wire makes perfect sense 👍
Peter I agree you need all the light you can get but I have been driving around the last two years with yellow headlight bulbs and relying on the directional high beams on country lanes so pretty use to the candle light effect, I also rarely use the car at night mainly summer driving.
Thankyou both for your invaluable info.
Happy New Year.Hello Peter, Im changing the standard main headlight units for Marchal units simply because i think the inner circular reflector inside the main headlight looks good on the DS, I did notice though that I may have to work out the wiring as the existing unit I believe has 3 cables coming off the headlight connector where as the Marchal units have two seperate light bulbs for dipped and main beam each having two cables per bulb excluding side light fitting. Once i have taken the light pod out it may become more clear.
Thanks David/Paul,
I think I can shelve that job for now in that case 🫣 as I have not long stripped and rebuilt the wings for painting.Just to say I have been running my EFI Ds on E10 for 2 years and 3400 miles done with only the fuel injection short hoses and fuel pump replaced by Jamie 2 years ago for safety reasons, so far so good.
I’m forever knocking the cables off from the relays attached to my battery cage, may be worth a look 👀
Jamie Ds workshop may help
David having just put my lights back in the wings after having painting done I’m not sure if your aware of the plastic cups on the rear of the headlight that the adjusting rods click into, assuming they are still there!
That’s interesting, I think someone explained a cold start sensor up on the elbows is fed information from the air filter sensor but my one isn’t receiving the information to turn off so runs too rich, I’ll have a read up on the articles suggested above. Keep us updated if you can.
Simon I’m no expert either but on my EFI Ds I have removed the sensor from the air filter which helped the running process in my case as something else in line is not reading the information correctly from the air filter sensor, as it’s only a release connector May be worth a try. Assuming you have a sensor on your air filter!
It’s nice to be part of a good group of people, makes owning these cars possible 👍
Paul your a star ⭐️
Cleaned the ends of the tangs and straightened 3 or 4 which had become misshaped and away it went, these cars are so funny in how they were made that item alone would make anyone smile so intricate.
Cheers Paul.Cheers Paul I’ll have a check 👍
Here’s hoping you get another chance 🤞
