Thanks for your encouragement. I have got my head around the taking off the cover and re-attaching it with hog rings. It is just the choosing and the cutting of the foam, which is a bit of an unknown. I will take the cover off as far as the arm rest (that does not need doing) and see what it looks like. Then I will try to source foam as similar as possible to the original.

Thanks Paul and Peter. I am in Liverpool. There is an autotrim business fairly near to me who could do it but he is very busy and I was hoping to drive to France for a short break soon, Covid restrictions permitting. I am near DS Workshop at Stagg Hill tomorrow, so will take the seat to show Jamie. He is busy too but if he gives me a few pointers maybe I will tackle it myself or I will wait for when he can slot me in.

The foam has turned to dust, so it all need replacing. I went to a place in Sandbach called Martrim that stocks all kinds of stuff for auto upholstery, but they did not have the exact foam for the DS, I guess it is no longer available. They did have the millboard/trimboard that fits on the back of the seat, however. The old back was hanging off so I pulled it off and used it as a stencil for a replacement.

I have had the D Super for over a year and have done a few jobs myself. I am not at all a practical person, so am teaching myself slowly. I have heard that there have been tech weekends in previous years. These would have been useful for me, but are out of the question this year I guess.

You are right. It was a dodgy earth connection. I missed the earth connection on the right hand (passenger) side of my left hand drive car. It was just a lead that needed connecting. In addition, two bulbs had failed in the process of removing and refitting, which complicated things. Thanks for the help.

My car also has dimpled roof. It is also a D Super (built end 1970, I believe); first on the road Jan 1971.I read in a Citroen book that D Supers of that age sometimes came with roof clouds contrasting with the body. Mine is Bleu Platine (AC632) and the roof is a kind of light grey (almost silvery). How do I found out if the roof colour is original? Probably impossible? Do cars with contracting body and roof normally have two discs (one for each colour) in the engine bay? Back to the roof … is it a relatively inexpensive paint job. Does it have to be a specialist DS garage that does it. The Cant rail may need replacing on mine too.

I forgot to show the pictures of the refurbished wings. The wiring looks like it is all in place but maybe some of the bulbs may have been damaged during the refurbishment. I will struggle on. Horn works, indicators work. Headlights and sidelights not.

I finished cleaning the rear wings and had them treated and painted. I guess I have to put Dinitrol 3125 4941 on them now. Seems a shame. I am onto the front wings now. The front wings did not have ant black sealer on them. Do the front wings not need Dinitrol? The front wings have a bit of paint that is bubbling near the headlight.
