I’m also just reading through the D-Jetronic info on Jetronic.org
A fascinating, if slightly bewildering read!!

OK, just tried that. Engine idle much better with the sensor disconnected – wants to stall otherwise. I wonder if that means the sensor is caput? I see its currently out of stock and at £80 might have to wait anyway.
The idle still a bit lumpy but better.
Some good info on the aussiefrogs site about idle and mixture control. Certainly gives me some areas to look into.

    Thanks all.

I do have a sensor on the air filter. interestingly, when I had to top apart as previously mentioned, I found the wiring to this sensor was broken and so I repaired it. Maybe it needs to not work, as you suggest. I’ll give it a whirl…

    Neat. Thats lots of expoxy!

Its a mould made from a green hydraulic part. Difficult to be sure of scale but looks maybe hemispherical.
    But not a sphere..
    Maybe something protective?

Or an ashtray for those hard moments we get?

    Hi Paul,
I’m using Option 1 Sportscars nr WestBrom. They are a GRP specialist but with panel beating experience too.
I have previously taken my Lotus to them and was impressed with the level of detail they put in.
I have already got back my rear wings, boot lid and roof, all GRP from them along with my bonnet. All paint looks great. I was keen to get the work done by someone happy with all 3 substrates.

    Well, 8 months on!

I’ve got very nearly nothing done until recently. Weather has not helped of course – cant open the main garage doors for long and I also have an NSU Prima Scooter completely in the way.
Anyway, nice weather for parts of this weekend has allowed me to make some progress.

The door hinge shims from the old doors largely dont work out for the new ones, obviously, so I have been moving them around checking for fit of each door (these are the hinge to pillar shims)
The door seems perfect in every respect so far. Very good quality from a fit perspective at least.

So, plan is to get them off to the painters (retrieve the front wings hopefully).
I’m fine tuning the door rebuild notes – its surprising how critical it is to get everything in the right order. Only by following my own notes to build a door will I know if I got it right.

Anyway, new target for completion – my youngest has her ‘prom’ in July and want to be taken in the Goddess. Not unreasonable. The desire, not the prom – that seems odd to me. What’s wrong with a party. Or a disco? Its what they do now apparently!

Here is a tip with pesky screws that might get lost during insertion.
Tie a single throw of thread under the screw head and hold both ends to the screwdriver as you place in hole.
It keeps the screw secure to the driver until it gets to the hole, if you drop it, you can usually retrieve and when threaded, easily pulls away.
Don’t ask me where this trick comes from but its not for cars…!

in reply to: Green Thing #9328

    Yes its the ashtray light.
I wondered too when I found it in my dash when fitting radio. It sort of works!

Are you keeping the tab open, or closing when you finish?

    Looks fantastic though!
I replaced the brake pipes on my Esprit a few years ago and found it one of the best bits of the restoration – I was disappointed there weren’t more of them. But it was a straight forward job – the only tricky bit was dropping the shell onto the chassis whilst guiding the pipes through a hole to the master cylinder.
I can appreciate however that volume and complexity involved here can quickly change pleasure to pain – more kudos however as a result!!

Albert, I have same car – if you post an image, I might be able to find same on mine.

in reply to: Loose spark plug #9253

    Dangerous!
Think you have to assume its in the cylinder.
Your attempts to tighten the plug may have driven it in enough.
    Ah well.
Head off and fix properly seems the best thing to do. I guess you could look with an endoscope but you still have the non-fitting plug issue.

in reply to: Loose spark plug #9251

how far might you need to drive it?

    in reply to: Miracles! #9214

Interesting. The green item to the rear of the distributor cap presumably also part of same mechanism.

You must be very happy in how its progressing.
