Unfortunately I don’t have the part with me, it is with another restorer whom I will visit later this week with the lhm seals. I’ll measure up there and get some pics to post. I agree with you that the cup probably goes around the slide valve and may be cupped to bear against the circlip and possibly stepped to provide a face for the spring?
Thanks and sorry for any confusion.
I have seen your post on aussiefrogs. The leak is from the end where the pushrod on the pedalgear goes into the unit (I have a drip inside the footwell and below the unit on the bulkhead) so 17 and/or 16 would appear at fault. I have found a source of lhm seals for these two so have purchased them and now await delivery. The supplier did not have an lhm replacement for the seal 25 which is cup shaped and I have been unable to find one anywhere else.
Because the restorer disposed of the original lhs seals I do not have a set to use as a template which I would need in order to get an exact copy made of 25 – which is something I may have to consider if I can’t find a replacement. There is a supplier who has a full set of seals for this master cylinder, but only in lhs, so I will buy this as well, but for reference only. Below is my annotated parts drawing. I should be able to source the nitrile O rings and flat washers, 20,23,and 15
Thanks for the help on this Paul. My master cylinder is not quite the same one you have identified. Mine is the figure 2 in the drawing you have shown. (If I knew how, I would upload my annotated parts drawing which shows the particular seals I need). The o rings and flat seals shouldn’t be too much of a problem – I’m sure I can source something suitable in nitrile. The problem seals are DM 453-10, DM 453-13 and DM 453-236 which, like you say, are shaped.
I had a good trawl through some French sites today and found a supplier of an LHS kit for this particular master cylinder. A set of these would at least make a good reference for somehow copying. Then, just by chance I found a supplier who has a set of LHM seals, but only the two (DM 453-13 and DM453-10) which are required for the cylinder in fig 1.
Judging by the price I am having to pay it suggests someone had a batch made and is now recouping some of the cost. All I need to do now is somehow source or fabricate DM 453-236 (25 on section) -
