Common problem cables coming adrift! There is hole in the front of the bonnet catch about 6-7mm diameter where you can feed a rod between the front bumper and bonnet and into the hole to release the catch. There is a drawing for a tool you can make for this but can’t find it at the moment. Happy fishing.

Hi Julian, they are strengthening shims for the rear door checkstraps, you’ll find them in the sill section near the b post. Hope this helps.

    Hi John

The 648 Parts catalogue doesn’t differentiate a year change for Cibie or SEV Marchal, I think Citroën kept their options open to different suppliers. I have a 1973 model with SEV Marchal glass if that helps.

in reply to: Front wing adjustment #7595

    Hi Sean
I used a deep 8mm socket 1/4 drive on a long extension. Loosen the mounts, close the door and adjust the wing. Just nip them up so the wing will just move and stay in position. Good luck.

in reply to: Paint codes for ds173 Pallas #7520

    Hi Sean

Ask your local paint factor for an ‘EXY’ swatch MERVILLE was the original manufacturer and see if that matches.
Don’t forget your paint could be nearly 50 years old.

in reply to: Special tool 1955-T #7415

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for the reply, as you say, the crucial dimensions are the relative lengths of the fingers, so the difference in the two sets of dimensions (yours and Peters) are ~ 10-12mm. 2mm difference over 175mm is probably more than enough accuracy as this equates to less than 0.7° at the pinion.

Given there is so much movement in the pinion under normal operation I am going to say that either measurement is close enough to adjust the rack angle. The distance of the third leg on the body is not as important as this runs straight along the column, the only contributory factor is that it doesn’t foul the suspension sphere.

It would be interesting to see your German diagram and the measurements of the proper Citroën tool if you have time. So tomorrow I will be attempting to make something that resembles Peters diagram.

Thanks both for your time, I will post how I get on.

in reply to: My 6 way fuse board on my DS 2.3 EFI #7204

    Hi John

I have a diagram for 71> RHD with 6 fuses. I think on the last D models they were fitted with a 6 way fuse board updating the older 2 way + 4 way but did not update the diagram to reflect the change as this did not effect the layout. Anyway you can download the diagram from my drive here , hope this helps.

Let me know if the link doesn’t work… Google drive can be strange sometimes?

    Hi John
The only reference I have seen to the 6 way fuse board is in the later drivers hand book P35.
    Do you have a copy?

in reply to: Rear boot support spring replacement (saloon) #7031

    Justin
I feel a tad guilty for recommending these springs, however, I have had them fitted to my DS for a few years now without any problems. I have heard of the shoulder on the inner part of the strut coming out too far and catching the outer sleeve effectively locking up the strut and making it a solid unit. This maybe something to look out for.

in reply to: DS23 Battery #7030

    Hi Jonathan
You need something like 069 which is 12V/70 Ah
The battery terminals are the other way around to normal so you don’t need to modify the leads.
This is from Citroën Classics – good luck.

in reply to: Rear boot support spring replacement (saloon) #6985

    Hi Justin
Short answer pull it. When you compress the complete unit by hand with the boot open the outer half with the nipple on the end should free from the bottom support. Lift it away from the support and the bottom half will will pull away to reveal the spring. Do one side at a time and use heavy duty replacement spring, especially if you have a Pallas with the heavy boot seal. A bit of grease on all your pivots/touching parts always helps.
