Dear Paul,
Cables 4-5 from page 5-541/6 workshop manual
The long cable to the boot area has been replaced by myself (bought from Darrin (CC)
The other braided front cable is original so I have contacted Darrin with regards to this item.
There is a DS site in the Netherlands with videos showing how to fix and repair DS cars.
I sometimes go to it on occasions but it sometimes has Dutch voice overs.
I did learn from them, how to fit new rubber boots to the steering rack, which I accomplished.
Also how to set the steering to run in a straight line.
They also have a tutorial on how to set the semi auto box to run and engage the gears smoothly.
Could not the CCC in the UK do a similar thing either dubbed into English or borrowed from them under license.
A joint effort. Many thanks for your help. Paul
John MooreHi Paul,
Many thanks for your speedy reply,
The 4 wings were removed sometime ago and taken to Graham Morton along with the 4 doors plus the boot for refurbishment and base coated, so the glass came out with the headlight pods as well as the indicator’s and all the trim from the doors and wings.
At present the wings have just been fitted to the car so that I can check them. I have purchased new fresh air vent pipes from Citroen Classics in Staines. The wings will be removed and fitted to my 2 wing stands which will hold the wings in the right position whilst I get them prepared for painting. I have asked Darrin at Citroen Classics to see if one can still obtain items 2 & 3 on page 5.541/3. When the headlight pod cam out of the car the glass was attached by double sided tape and the light pods were near to the plastic chrome trim which is attached to the car wing, I presume this is stuck to the wing. I do not know. As I stripped this car down about 8 years ago the memory of how the wires and the rods for altering the swivel headlights fit together need a workshop manual just for them alone.Kind regards,
John MooreHi,
I made a typing error on my last post The wire from the ballast resistor goes to pin 86 on the relay and not 82.
When looking at the wiring layout on the Basic Diagram there is a blue wire from the key to what looks like the Ballast resistor with a yellow cable going to the radiator fan relay, there is also a green wire going to the distributor, With another wire going to the tachometer. The green wire must be the wire I have to the distributor as well as the tachometer.
Sorry for my mistake.
JohnDear Paul,
This wiring problem is addling my mind, I now understand what you are saying and shall proceed with the information you have supplied me to complete this re-wiring work.
Many thanks Paul for you assistance in this technical problem, all because the plans I had did not have those extra 2 fuses for the headlights.
Many thanks,
JohnDear Colin,
I have the same plan as you do but I also have an installation diagram, but once the wires go into the loom you can no longer trace them, so I need a BASIC design just like yours and mine but with 6 fuses, I will keep trying. Many thanks,
JohnHi Colin,
No I do not have a copy.
I need a plan of the layout with the positive rail at the top and the negative rail at the bottom.
Many thanks,
JohnHi Paul,
I did get the electrical layout plans but they have come out blurred.
Is there anyway of getting a good copy of RHD only to me in the post.
Darrin Brownhills did send me a partial copy but only up to the Distributor.
If you cannot do it then I may ask Darrin for a full copy instead. Many thanks,
JohnDear Paul,
Many thanks for your speedy reply,Darrin Brownhills from Citroen Classics sent me a partial copy of a DS wiring layout, The battery is on the left with the positive rail running along the top & the negative rail at the bottom, there are no wiring looms. There are numbers on each item, I can make out the alternator and regulator, the plan just has most of the switches with the layout in a vertical layout. Some cables are different colours as well as numbers for the switches and dials. I have a feeling that Darrin is away from home at the present time.
I also have a relay layout plan that I drawn up on A4.
I do not know how to send diagrams through this site, via my scanner, so either let me know how to do it or I shall post the two plans to your office or home, whichever is the best way.
Please let me know,
Many thanks,
John
John MooreDear Paul,
Many thanks for your answers, much appreciated.
When I drove the car into my garage about 4/5 years ago I decided to remove the engine and gearbox to enable me to clean everything up and insulate the rear wall of of the engine bay, I also fitted new rubbers on the steering rack as well as new handbrake pads and springs. In doing all this of course the battery and radiator had to come out and this is where the cables to the relays came away. The previous owner had fitted 3 relays, 1 Bosch, 1 Cartier and 1 unknown make, the previous owner had marked the two cables coming from the computer with a pink felt tipped pen the other 4 cables where left with just the connectors on.
Looking at your wiring diagram of which I do have a copy, you will note the cables from the relays go to terminals 11,16 and 19 on the computer with another supply from terminal 18 going to the impulsion relay as well the thermal time switch then finally to the cold start injector. On the large loom coming out there is a large plastic block one yellow and one white. The white one has 5 cables going into it and the yellow one has 6 cables going into it. I can see the pressure sensor number 17.
How do I send you a photo of my 6 way fuse board which is just for the car interior and lights, nothing to do with the computer, that’s ‘ if you need a photo for your records.
Tomorrow I am going to get out there again and check the wiring from the computer yet again just to make sure I have the correct numbers, I did notice cable 1 was at the bottom right of the computer. I just counted up until the bell rand then checked the number.
With regards my 6 way fuse board the fuses from the left are 10A-8A-25A-5A-16A-15A that is how I found them but without an electrical layout they may be in the wrong position’s.
Kind regards,
John MooreHi,
I do understand that the wiring from the computer does only the parts for the EFI car, and not other electrical parts of the car.
I have purchase 4 new general purpose relays with fuses to make sure the old relays I have are not faulty, my next point is to bell out the remaining 4 wires going to parts of the EFI system. I have marked the two wires coming from the computer so it is just a case finding which part of the system they go to. The wires are thin about 2.4mm with the insulation on so I will be able to rule out any larger wires such as the plug in connection down by the injectors/suspension sphere on my RHD passenger side. A may even fit a live 12v wire to the 3 relays and then check with my multi-meter for a positive result
At present there where 3 relays on the battery cage one was bosch, another was Cartier, and the other had no name.
There is a green relay by the air horns. when I opened the computer I found N01 cable and worked my up the brass contacts counting as I went when the bell rang I was at number 14 then when I tested the second wire that pinged out at number 19. What I do not understand is why do I have a 6 way fuse board. On all the plans of the computer show connections to terminals 24=18 and 16 that is counting from the bottom of the computer pin 1.
I shall get back to you tomorrow to see if I get a result from the tester to the cable continuity test.
Kind regards.
JohnPeter,
As far as I can remember it was 4 speed I took them from 2 cars I had bet never drove them The last one I removed was a 1975 2.3 injection. That may help you?Hi,
I have a set of the older chrome/S/S hub caps full wheel covering, if I look up in the roof there maybe 5 so if I have, you will be welcome to the spare one.
John Moore12@supanet.comI have 2 RHD gearboxes they have been in my garage for about 5/6 years removed from cars that I scrapped because of too much bodywork and chassis work in the rear end.
The 2 for £500 or £250 each. I have a spare starter motor as well that came out of the same car and a 2.3 engine.
So if you are interested in any of the parts I live in the village of Bucknell South Shropshire Nr Ludlow/Craven Arms.

If you do not have Satnav at Craven arms take the road to Clun in about 3 miles bear left for clungunford, keep to the main road do not veer off eventually you will come to the Small garage in Bucknell keep going past the Sitwell arms pub then turn e over the level train crossing, turn right you are now in Weston Road we are on the right with concrete block exterior 3 dormers with a laurel green hedge. There is a Saab conv G17 SJM and a Seat Car as well as a Alfa Romeo spider all cars are silver don’t ask me why.Hi ,
I to, own a DS 2.3 EFI 19semi-auto which I have been working to restore for the past 5 years, I have hit a bottle-neck with regards the cables to the relays by the battery.
Where do your live supplies come from?
I thought that they came from the electronic control unit as it says on the EFI cars 1970-1971. But my car has 6 fuses and not 4 as older cars mine was built in 1975 I was wondering if you could find out where the live feeds to the 3 relays come from? Because I have a diagram from a 1971 car and it says that the feeds come from the ECU in the footwell. Once I have got this problem sorted I can concentrate on painting the car and putting everything back into place.
My plan of the ECU states that the live feed to the relays comes from terminal 25 & 16 in the ECU, but all my wires go to the plastic main connectors around the engine as well as the carb /air supply /Pressure sensor/full load switch.Hi,
I removed 2 gearboxes from a pair of DS2.3 column change. they have been in my garage for about 8 years in dry condition never been left outdoors how about £250 each for the effort of taking them off.
I will await your reply -
