2007 saw the C4 badge extended to cover a second Picasso-badged people carrier.
The Xsara Picasso had proved to be one of the most successful cars the marque had ever had, massively outselling rivals, dominating the market sector in most European countries. The C4 Picasso aimed to take that success slightly upmarket, sitting alongside the Xsara Picasso for six years after the Xsara hatch was discontinued. Initially available as a five-seater, it was quickly joined by the seven-seat Grand Picasso. Upper-spec cars are notable for the availability of variable-height rear suspension, although not using Citroen’s hydraulics, but a generic pneumatic system.
